Busy Week

It’s been a busy week here at CDG.  Yesterday was our Central section AzASLA luncheon.  We had a great presentation on the history of the canal system in Phoenix dating back to the early 1900s.  It was really interesting to see and hear about the history of agriculture in the valley and how abundantly green the valley once was.

On another note, Boyd’s most recent column, The Week-ender, for Landscape Architect Business Magazine is now online.  This week, Boyd gives his thoughts on how improper maintenance can be detrimental to the success and sustainability of a landscape design.  Read it here.  We’d love to hear your opinion or thoughts on the matter here, so please comment below.

New Weekly Column

We are excited to be a part of  a new online publication called Landscape Architect Business.  Every week LA Business publishes a Week-Ender column and our own, Boyd Coleman, will be a regular contributor.  We will post links to the column here and hope that you will leave feedback regarding your thoughts about the articles. Also, let us know if you have any ideas for topics that you would like to read.

You can read Boyd’s latest column “Summer Blues” here.

Enjoy!

8.17.11 The Understory

Today was National Landscape Architecture Awareness Day and we participated by supporting the Arizona Chapter of the American Society of Landscape Architects by passing out flyers and cards and speaking with people we came in contact with in city parks across the Phoenix area that were designed by local landscape architects. This was an exciting event that happened all across the country and was very successful overall.

For photos of our event, check out the AzASLA’s Facebook page.

Even though it was very warm (105 degrees), we all had a great time and hopefully enlightened others about the field of landscape architecture.
